Mikhaila Turns Five at Kidzania

Recently, my daughter turned five. But since we already had a celebration in her school (which deserves another post), I decided to bring her to Kidzania instead. She had been longing to visit that place eversince she heard about it. Lucky me, as I was browsing facebook, I stumbled upon a site that offered a buy one take one ticket, Ph900 for the both of us, didn't think twice, immediately purchase it online before the promo expired. Harhar.

Mikhaila woke up extra early and was excited about it, but I guess I was more excited than she was.

As we arrived at Kidzania, we lined up to a place that look like an airport terminal. We were each given an arm band that looks like a watch, boarding passes and a map so we wouldn't get lost. We also received a cheque amounting 50 Kidzos upon checked in. Kidzos is Kidzania's currency and you can encash it in BPI Bank located inside the establishment.

Kids can apply for their own passport to be a Kidzania Citizen in the PaZZport office. Each passpost is worth Ph250. This is useful to those who often visit the city because it has a lot of perks like more earnings and discounted rates.

Each kids need to pay kidzos to undergo training and received a training certificate, while each kids earn kidzos whenever they apply for a job. Every time they enter a room, their watch will get scanned. The adults there will brief the kids about what will transpire in the next few minutes. Mommies and Daddies are not allowed to go inside, but don't worry, you'll be able to see them through the glass panels. Mommys, our role here is to maximize our kids time so make sure you are aware of the time as to when the activity will start, and be sure to count the kids that are lining up because each activities has a maximum number of kids per cycle.

Burger Shop: Mcdonald's.

Here, you have to pay Kidzos to undergo training.

This is Mikhaila's first stop. They were asked to wash their hands before they start for their training. In Mcdonald's, each kid made their own burgers and brought it out as baon. Actually, I saved money for lunch, because Mikhaila had her burger for lunch just as she was lining up for other activities.

Home Finishing: First Balfour

Every kid has two options, an Electrician or a House Painter, and she opted for the latter. This is Mikhaila's official first job since she gets to earn money here. The moment she came out, she was jumping with joy because she received her first salary.

Bakeshop: Goldilocks

Mikhaila as a Pastry Chef! She was so cute wearing those uniform. Here they baked, molded and designed their own pastry and get to bring it with them.

Creative Hub: Oishi

Kids were asked to close their eyes and analyzde the snack given to them through sense of taste. After that, they were given some dough to mold, and these were put into the machine to create a snack. Mikhaila was surprisingly attentive here. Each kid will receive a snack once the training is done.

Aviation Academy: Cebu Pacific

The line for the Pilot training was so long, so she opted for the cabin crew instead. I didn't see what she did here but as per Mikhaila, they arranged the utensils and served the food to the guests.

Beauty Salon: Kurlz

I was hesitant to let her enter the salon since I thought she usually does this at home. But good thing she insisted because this is where she earned the highest salary, and so I guess.

Supermarket: Healthy Options

Mikhaila was asked to participate as a shopper here because there were kids manning the cashier area already. She was told to just grab whatever she likes from the shelves and pay at the counter whenever she is done with shopping.

Hotel: Holiday Inn & Suites

This is the most informative among all the activities Mikhaila had done. She worked as a waitress in the Hotel Restaurant. She had a partner that worked with her, and they were briefed on how to set up a table. After that, they were asked to set up the table  and the buffet area by themselves using a photo as their guidelines.

Laundromat: Champion

This is my favorite though because Mikhaila's job required her to step out of the room to pick up the laundry from Holiday Inn and drop another set to the Art and Design Academy. She also learned how to fold clothes and sort them out based on colors.

Pharmacy: Mercury Drugstore

This is Mikhaila's last stop. She worked as a pharmacist here wherein she was asked to count the medicine and arranged them on the shelves.

Kidzania closes at 4pm and before it closes, make sure to allot yourself some time to visit the bank and open a savings account. I wasn't able to do so since the cut off was 3:30pm and Mikhaila was still in Mercury Drug working. Anyway, I will just keep her Kidzos for her next visit. Mikhaila really had a great time, and even if I was just watching her from the outside, I enjoyed every minute of it. I love seeing her interact with other kids and adults, develop her self esteem and be a responsible citizen in the city. I will definitely bring Mikhaila here again!
